Münchenwiler Castle – barn and residential building _ bernath + widmer

Ber, Switzerland, 2018

A historic barn in Münchenwiler Castle converted into a residential building while respecting the original
The well-preserved historic center of Münchenwiler village, near the little medieval town of Murten, Switzerland, is listed in the federal inventory of Swiss heritage sites of national importance.
The listed building used to be part of the well-known Münchenwiler Castle Estate; the castle, itself a former priory, still stands as a historic building within the town. The estate houses what was the largest barn in the Canton of Bern at the time. This was built on its existing foundations around 1830.
