New volumes and an underground spine connect a remodeled campus
In the 1950s, architect Zoltán Farkasdy designed the Academy of Applied Arts, situated in the western suburbs of Hungarian capital Budapest. Of his three simple volumes with large neo-classical porticos, only two were built. The college is now called the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, named after the experimental artist and Bauhaus teacher László Moholy-Nagy, and it is known by its Hungarian initials MOME. Local practice 3h architects have remodeled the campus with new architecture which connects three volumes underground, including the one remaining Farkasdy building which has been internally redesigned. […]
