In Brussels, Belgium, the nineteenth century industrial quarter of Tour & Taxis included the Gare Maritime, completed in 1907 as Europe’s largest rail goods building. Following a design led by Rotterdam-based Neutelings Riedijk Architects, the vast historic space has been transformed into a 45,000m2 enclosed complex of offices, retail and restaurants in connected buildings-within-a-building, and extensive public spaces.
