A warm, angular building for mountain visitors
The 1,545m-high Cradle Mountain in Tasmania lies in an Australian National Park which attracts growing numbers of hikers and sight-seers. Local practice Cumulus Studio coauthored the Cradle Mountain Master Plan in 2016, which proposed replacing an existing visitor center with a Gateway Precinct modeled as an ‘alpine village’ on the park’s edge.
